New nests in Unionville
Townhouses close to downtown Feng shui used

in site's design

SPECIAL TO THE STAR

Best Homes has just launched a townhouse development in Unionville for people on a budget looking for a downtown lifestyle.

Called Swallow's Nest, the 70 townhouses will be located a short distance from Markham's city centre, across the street from the Kennedy GO station, and near Main St. Unionville, Unionville Golf Course and the 407.

"These townhomes will appeal to young couples who can pay a bit more than rent," says Bilal Mahmood, marketing manager for Best Homes.

Models are priced from the $260,000s. ."

Mahmood explains that recent initiatives like the ground-breaking of the Markham YMCA, the extension of Main St. Unionville to the GO station on Enterprise Dr., the arrival of VIVA York Rapid Transit in the coming months and the future walkable central urban park will create a vibrant downtown core.

A daunting challenge was designing the narrow space efficiently and practically, without sacrificing originality and luxury.

"We spent a lot of time with the architect, Viljoen Architect, and have come up with good-sized living areas and bathrooms," says Mahmood.

A constant throughout all Best Homes developments is the feng shui approach to design. On their website (http://www.besthomescanada.com/), feng shui is described as the harmony between practical needs of construction with the inner harmony of spirit.

Ranging in size from 1,000 to 1,600 square feet, the majority of the townhouses at Swallow's Nest will have dual frontage, which means they'll have a street in front and a lane and a one-car detached or attached garage in the back.

Many will also have basement walkouts and balconies and the lots are 110 feet deep.

Mahmood says buyers can choose to have a separate eating area in the kitchen, or a breakfast area within the kitchen.

The townhouses will have a brick faηade that Mahmood says "looks like a cottage" with welcoming columns, verandas and decorative trim.

Interior features include ceramic tile in the entry, kitchen and bathroom, and high-grade 36-ounce carpet.

For more information, visit the Swallow's Nest sales office at 8351 Kennedy Rd. in Markham, or call 905-948-9966.
